Worth It!

Comments:

The direct drive is so much better than a traditional trainer if you plan on using this a lot. I switched from an adjustable fluid trainer to this and LOVE IT. Quieter, but the big difference is the feel of the trainer- it feels like you're on the road. I've done a variety of workouts from sprints, to endurance, to varying rpm and have been very pleased with the performance. It's also safer if you have kidos playing around the area you workout since there's no spinning wheel hazard.

EXTREMELY QUIET, THE BEST TRAINER!

About Me Collegiate/Pro

Comments:

I have been using my Silencer for the past 7 months on-and off on days when the weather has not co-operated. I was not sure what to expect when I first got the machine, but I wanted something sturdy, quiet (I live in a apartment) and something that could handle long hours of hard watts. This trainer has not disappointed! It has been the ideal training companion and I wouldnt ride anything else at this point. Bombproof design- and can take more pounding that you could imagine.

Awesome, Quiet, and crazy effective!

About Me Collegiate/Pro

Comments:

I have to say that I really love the Silencer! I have been riding indoor trainers in Calgary, AB for the past 15 years and haven't felt a trainer like this before! Its perfect for a athlete with a small apartment- whose coach loves to give out some "big gear" and high intensity cycling work! If you ride at home during winters, or long stretches- just leave your bike frame set up on it. Its easy to assemble in under 10 minutes and is oh-so-quiet compared to anything else that I push hard on. I love that I can easily switch between my road bike and TT bike- and could even thrown my mountain bike on if necessary. Not a "portable trainer" to take with you during the day as it is bulky, but if you ride in your own pain cave- this is the best you can get!

What trainer?

About Me Competitive Cyclist

Comments:

I have wanted a direct-drive trainer for a few years--in fact I had an article about one hanging in my shop to remind me that "someday..." But I had heard that another popular brand was extremely noisy, so I never pulled the trigger. I had already had a Fluid2 and other variable resistant trainers but felt I could never fine a "sweet spot": shifting up created more resistance than I wanted, etc. So I saw and read up on the Silencer and the only negative review I read seemed bitter. So I thought I'd give it a shot. I love it. I do like the mag-resistance so I can dial into what I feel is a road-like feel and shift through the gears and have that fine-adjust ability to exactly what I want/need for a given workout. The only wish that I have for it is an ability to record output data like some of the pricier trainers or have some kind of interface to pre-program a workout. Someday. Here's the best part: I often go upstairs after a workout and ask my wife, "Did you hear the trainer?" And her response is usually, "What trainer?"

Stable, smooth, expensive but worth it.

Bought this last winter and was good timing with all the snow and ice we had. Smoother than I thought it would be. Quieter than most. Very stable do to the weight and base width.

Worth every cent

About Me

Comments:

I was already a huge fan of the Direct Drive trainers and have been a LeMond Customer for quite some time. I moved into an apartment building and the volume of the LeMond was not helping me make friends especially as I need to train early in the morning. I needed something much quieter and this trainer worked out perfectly. I don't find the road feel much different than the LeMond Revolutiion but it's so realistic I don't dread riding it. I use my own power meter so having built in electronics is not something I care about and I feel this trainer is sturdy enough to last many many years. It is heavy but I don't mind bc in winter I keep it set up. If you don't care about lack of electronics I'm not sure why you'd want any other trainer

Not silent

Comments:

This trainer is not silent at all! Whisper quiet it is not! I had to start using headphones to listen to the tv while training. A big disappointment for the money. It may be going back.
